01
What Gaps are we Bridging?
Narrative Change that Covers the Reality On Ground
While it's generally agreeable that the need to transition is palpable to survival on earth, many of the world’s citizens are in the dark about this fact. For many petro-states in the global south, a majority of the population cannot fathom a thriving economy without oil and fossil fuels; and this perception and lack of understanding is what the initiative seeks to change. In our effort to create constructive awareness about the climate crisis, our work will amplify grassroots voices uncovering the real cost of the transition as it relates to social and economic dynamics.
We will promote and scale the use of data as evidence to build arguments, and develop a network of practitioners that value data over assumption of facts in how they tell stories. By prioritizing data, we utilize climate science and case-studies, including real life experiences to build a strong basis for why a new energy system must be decentralized, accessible, and must centre the social, cultural and economic integration of the people above all.

Political Accountability That Puts Public Office Holders To Their Heels
Our mandate will ultimately gear towards seeing real actions being taken by the government at all levels in ensuring that policy documents translate into meaningful actions, and many of these endeavors will be spearheaded through our creative & journalistic works. CRGI will not only support reporting on who said what, but create a sense of urgency in how financial resources needed to drive the transition must be secured, and how transparency and accountability plays a key role in this.
Data Driven Reporting Backed by Facts & Lived Experiences
The Climate Reporting Gap Initiative at its core is driven to be reactive in addressing new and emerging issues to scale progressive journalism that center local struggles at the heart of climate news and related media. By doing so, we provide opportunities for local solutions to emerge, and for the people to see their demands and calls to action take center stage in both local and global fora.
